Dr. Jim Greenwald, an Emeritus Professor of Family Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University, has dedicated over four decades to caring for families and educating future doctors. Recognized for his exceptional teaching, Upstate Foundation honored him by establishing the James L. Greenwald Rural Scholars Program Scholarship Fund, supporting the training of small-town doctors. A lifelong musician since fourth grade in Cobleskill, NY, Greenwald has been a key figure in the local music scene, performing with the SUNY Cobleskill Jazz Band, Tijuana Brats, Del Delerentes Big Band, Ectopic Rhythms, and notably as the Principal Trombone of the SU Brass Ensemble since 1990, where he also serves on the board. His commitment to music extends to performances with the Skaneateles Community Band, the Rhythm Airs, and Bones East, showcasing his versatile talent across a range of musical groups.
