Craig Elwood, SUBE Associate Director, earned his Bachelor’s of Music Education at Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, and his Masters of Trumpet Performance Degree at Syracuse University in 1990. Craig taught instrumental music at all levels in the Central Square School System until his retirement in 2018. During his tenure as a music educator he served as President of the Oswego County Music Educators Association, President of the Mid-York Colorguard Circuit and President of the New York State Field Band Conference. He also served as NYSSMA state chairperson for Marching Band and was on the Board of Directors for the Central Winds. While an active educator, Mr. Elwood arranged music for his chamber ensemble program at the P. V. Moore High School and remained active as a performer in the Central New York area. Craig’s main goal during his retirement years is to remain busy organizing and coordinating the NYSFBC Championship Show each October in the Carrier Dome, golf as much as Central New York weather will allow, work in his wood working shop and spend as much time with his wife Jeanette as their busy schedules will permit.
